Irish Stop Streaking Bulls 65-62

Notre Dame cooled off a red hot USF Bulls team that had won 4 Big east games in a row on saturday. Led by Luke Harangody's 19 points and 15 boards the Irish started fast, but the Bulls built a 6 point lead late int he 2nd half before missing key free throws down the stretch cost them the lead and ultimately the game. Dominique Jones was finally held in check after going on an absolute tear during the win streak. The loss drops the Bulls to 15-8 over all and 5-6 in Big East Conference play. USF has gotten a lot of national attention during their win streak and is still a viable NCAA tourney candidate. A win over Marquette tuesday night would go a long way to securing that.

The best part was he even yelled "Y'all come watch Dominique Jones play!" at the crowd prior to shooting free throws in the final moments.

USF has found a replacement for Jim Leavitt. The school introduced Skip Holtz as head coach today in front possibly the largest outdoor pep rally crowd in school history. This puts an amazingly positive ending to what was an entire week of off field headlines surrounding the Leavitt-Miller controversy.

This is a very positive day for the history of the USF football program. It will be interesting to see what type of offense Holtz installs around B.J.
Leavitt Fired!

The Bulls are going to look a lot different on the sidelines next season. The school announced today that they were parting ways with Coach Leavitt after 13 seasons. Leavitt was 95-57 during that span and had just finished his second season of a 7-year contract worth $12 million.

Depending upon whom replaces Leavitt, this might be a good thing for their future star QB, B.J. Daniels. This team has needed some better WR recruiting since Matt Grothe running the spread offense put the school on the map with a couple of nationally televised games. Daniels was electric at time in his freshman year and the sky is the limit for his potential. It will be interesting to see what type of offense is built around him by a new head coach. Most likely the entire staff will be replaced.
