Irish Stop Streaking Bulls 65-62

Notre Dame cooled off a red hot USF Bulls team that had won 4 Big east games in a row on saturday.  Led by Luke Harangody's 19 points and 15 boards the Irish started fast, but the Bulls built a 6 point lead late int he 2nd half before missing key free throws down the stretch cost them the lead and ultimately the game.  Dominique Jones was finally held in check after going on an absolute tear during the win streak.  The loss drops the Bulls to 15-8 over all and 5-6 in Big East Conference play.  USF has gotten a lot of national attention during their win streak and is still a viable NCAA tourney candidate.  A win over Marquette tuesday night would go a long way to securing that.

USF Upsets 17th Ranked Pitt

USF defeated a ranked opponent for the first time in nearly a year on Saturday.  Dominique Jones was unstoppable scoring 37 points to go along with 8 rebounds and the Bulls upset 17th ranked Pitt 70-61.  It was their third conference win in a row.  Next up is a trip to Washington DC to face Georgetown on Wednesday night.

Bulls Stun 8th Ranked Hoyas

Three days after upsetting Pittsburgh, the Bulls went into Washington DC and knocked off the 8th ranked team in the country.  It was their 4th consecutive conference win after never having posted Big east back-to-back wins in school history.  The Bulls improved to 15-7 overall and 5-5 in conference play.  There's a serious chance they could get start getting consideration for a top 25 ranking.

Dominique Jones was again a beast.  He put up 29 points and grabbed 8 rebounds.  The reigning Big East Player of the week is turning into a force. The best part was he even yelled "Y'all come watch Dominique Jones play!" at the crowd prior to shooting free throws in the final moments.

Chandler, Mitchell Sign With USF

Skip Holtz's first recruitment class could be one of the best in school history.  The Bulls received signed commitments from DT Todd Chandler and DB Terrence Mitchell, both three-star recruits.  Holtz was able to swipe Chandler from Miami and Mitchell from FSU, which should help the Bulls continue to balance out the power among the state schools.

USF signed 15 players on National Signing Day, including OL Quinterrius Eatmon, DB/WR Reshard Cliett, QB Jamius Gunsby, RB Michael Hayes, DB Mark Joyce, OL Jake Kaufman, OL Tony kibler, LB Hans Louis RB Tiger Powell, RB Marcus Shaw, PK Chris Vernon, RB/WR Deonte Welch and Jamaal Montague.

The latest additions complete a signing class that includes four players who enrolled early -- DE Claude Davis, LB Curtis Weatherspoon, OL Austin Reiter and DE Brandon Wilkinson.

Bulls Name Skip Holtz as Head Coach

USF has found a replacement for Jim Leavitt.  The school introduced Skip Holtz as head coach today in front possibly the largest outdoor pep rally crowd in school history.  This puts an amazingly positive ending to what was an entire week of off field headlines surrounding the Leavitt-Miller controversy.

This is a very positive day for the history of the USF football program.  It will be interesting to see what type of offense Holtz installs around B.J. Daniels.  Holtz compiled a 38-27 record in five seasons at East Carolina, leading the Pirates to a pair of Conference USA titles.
